Entering into a cloud a hygroscopic reagent Inserting of hygroscopic reagent in clouds with help of rocket system is essentially new technology (wasn't used in industrial scales before). This method based on inputing of the certain quantity of hygroscopic reagent inside a feeding area of the cloud, below a level of condensation. The height of reagent inputing is about 1-1.5 km above the ground. Execution of these works doesnt require obtaining of such a large number of permissions, as in case of usage of anti-hail means of influence, which function on more significant heights. In certain cases, when locality has a suitable orography, it is possible to use rocket means with even lower height of functioning.

Injection of reagent leads to complete reorganization of cloud structure, and on certain conditions (the main one is vertical capacity of the cloud greater than 3.5 km) results in complete precipitating of all moisture of the cloud. For an average cloud it can make 20 000 - 40 000 tons of water per one influence. More details about mechanism of action of reagent and some digital models of this process are described in section "Scientific Researches". Instruments of regulation of precipitations of this type can be used to provoke rains in limited territory and for other special purposes (for example to suppress a forest fire).

Unlike influences with crystallization reagents, which can be used only for cold clouds, application of described technology is possible independently from position of zero isotherm. At present moment company develops means of influence with simultaneous usage of both hygroscopic and crystallization reagents. That considerably raises efficiency and universality of such product.

Entering into a cloud a hygroscopic reagent Usage of the given technology directly provokes rain, unlike other known instruments of influence, which can only increase quantity of precipitations, when they already take place. The typical results of modeling are given on the diagram of precipitations intensity for a cloud with vertical height H=4.1 km. Though situation strongly varies with change of cloud parameters, it is clear that most pronounced effect occurs when hygroscopic particles have radiuses about 1 micron. In general case particles with radiuses less than 0.5 microns are not effective (effect of their influence will take place only for very large clouds with vertical capacity greater than 7 km., which are rare enough). For much smaller particles (radiuses significantly less than 0.5 microns) takes place an opposite effect - stabilization of a cloud.

The rocket system of delivery of hygroscopic reagent "Sky Clear-5" (NaCl, size of particles varies depending on conditions of application) that was developed by our company has following advantages

  • powder of salt that used as a hygroscopic reagent consists of particles with most effective size
  • all negative effects of smaller particles of hygroscopic aerosol are removed
Use of the given technology on existing anti-hail stations is especially effective for receiving of additional quantity of precipitation from passing through warm clouds.
